Catching Up

Welcome back!

Yes, that was one “hek” of an off-season for the Toronto Blue Jays. This afternoon, they begin their spring training schedule against Detroit. There really is nothing like baseball in February. It helps me forget about the weather here in Toronto.

As things get underway in Florida, here are a few bullet points:

– I know it’s very late, but I like the trade the Jays made to acquire R.A. Dickey. Prospects are hit and miss. They also make great trade bait. All trades are gambles. However, it’s better to give up someone who has potential (d’Arnaud) for someone who’s proven (Dickey) than the opposite.

– During the off-season, I wrote a few baseball pieces for TheGoodPoint.com. I reviewed Kelly Gruber’s autobiographypaid homage to Tom Cheek, posted my favourite baseball videos on YouTube and shared some spring training thoughts.

A new season of DNJT will begin on March 28. Mark it down on your calanders…..please.

– Finally, saw this video on Big League Stew and had to post it. It’s well-worth your time.
